We are a family-owned business which was started in 1977, with Minuteman International, making accessories for fireplaces and woodstoves. We successfully established ourselves as an industry leader in hearth products and in 1994, launched Achla Designs, introducing fine wrought-iron pieces for the home and garden. Our in-house design team brings together varied expertise- mechanical engineering, architecture, fine art, sculpture and metallurgy, to create and develop a wide array of products. Everything is manufactured to our particular specifications, using a variety of manufacturing techniques and materials.
We have two avid gardeners on our team as well as a few friends that we ask to try our products in their own landscapes. You can see some of our gardens here on Houzz. In New England we have a short growing season, but a beautiful autumn and a rich tradition of blacksmithing. Since 2003, each October, at peak foliage time, we partner with the City of Fitchburg and The Fitchburg Art Museum to sponsor the Annual Forge-In Festival. This event brings students, hobbyists and masters alike to the town, for a congenial on-site blacksmithing competition, demonstration and exhibition, celebrating our community and promoting the blacksmith’s craft.
Our company has grown steadily over the years, and we have all worked hard to build a reputation for beautiful quality products, at an affordable price, which enhance the domestic experience. We have new product introductions each year and also continue to offer the perennial favorites. We hope you enjoy!
